Reckless economic production vs. Sustained Economic Growth
In order to have Economic growth, we need sustained growth because that is the definition. Pollution hurts sustained growth according to MIT News, and The National Center for Environmental Economics, Pollution hurts Economic Growth. In fact, MIT News states, “China’s pollution puts a dent in its economy” Pollution is costing the economy 100s of billions of dollars per year. Thus we can see that pollution actually harms our economic growth. Furthermore, according to Dept. of Agricultural Extension, University of Peradeniya, “green” factories actually result in cost saving over regular factories. If we are actually prioritizing sustained growth, economic growth, we would not pollute or cause pollution. Thus pollution is bad for three reasons: it helps the environment, it saves lives, and it helps economic growth. So my opponent and I can agree that pollution is bad because it hurts both our sides.
EG is the only way to fix pollution, a problem that it did not even cause
Economic Growth is the only way to fix pollution, a problem that it did not even cause. Through Economic Growth we can have the production of products that get rid of pollution. Some of these products are, Smog Free Tower created by Daan Roosegaarde, Billboard created by UTEC to get rid of pollution, or California’s water system which is turning sewage water into drinking water. Without Economic Growth we would not produce any of these products. The negative side has no way to fix pollution, a problem that hurts both of us.
Brunei Darussalam
As one of the most developed nations in Asia, Brunei has also managed to maintain clean air standards, despite its rapid industrialization. This remote country with a very small population might not be known to all, yet it is a clear example of success in the region.
The country of Brunei is situated right above both Malasia and Indonesia.
Brunei Is a heavily industrialized area and since they have plenty of money they can then go and protect their environment and specifically their water even better.
